Did I really complete the process? It's just hard to believe that so much I learned during the learn & play sessions. It has been a great experience of trying to swim in the vast ocean of information in our Web World. Due to our learn & play program I've been exposed to this experience otherwise it might take me quite some time to dig & dive into the 'information explosion' world. Oh! if I only had some extra time to play around and enjoy it thoroughly. When we're pressed for time we just somehow have to complete it without playing just learning - now the feeling is almost like when a tough exam is over and you feel relaxed but something has been accomplished through out the process.
I loved the 'You Tube', I have to admit that I was skeptical in the beginning and thought it's only for the young generation - I was so wrong, it is so informative and it just feeds my brain everytime I look at it. Most of the credit I give to news media for my love affair with it.
Web 2.0 is an amazing, crazy world that I'm still trying to fathom its power & capacity. Now Internet became center of our culture and touches almost every aspect of our life style.
Wiki-ing is one of my favorite stuff to do - I just love it for current information and see how library can make good use of it.
Delicious is another tool that we use quite often at the library and it is very helpful for the staff to answer questions and finding a site saved in 'delicious' - after all it is all about the service we provide, the right information in least possible time.
I really don't know how often I'll continue with posting in my blog - I'm a introvert person and from the 'boomer' generation so blogging is not really my style. But it sure has been a great pleasure to learn & know the world of our future generation and try to help them & other customers as much as possible with my Web 2.0 knowledge.

Podcast

I cruised around several 'podcast' sites - it is just like a radio or tv show to enjoy, subscribe & share anytime with anyone. I found some good food related podcast. I'm not sure how much I'll use them but nice to know and learn from it.

Boring Boing

I wanted to go to Boing Boing but it took a while - and I sat there and waited few minutes to come up. It is just another site for getting info.

I tried to search the best 2.0 sites for food and found some interesting ones - simple recipes with wonderful results. People can participate by taping, updating, uploading and many more stuff to do beside cooking. It is amazing how average people can make scrumptious food and become a celebrity.

Google Docs.

I didn't exactly tried to do anything in Google docs. I just tried to explore few sites and played around with it. It is nice in a office setting when you're in a same committee but not in the same room. I can see sharing documents or websites can be helpful with Google Docs. It provides service where you can create, store and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations. You can work on your own or collaboratively. You can also import docs from MS Office and Open Office. Useful & helpful

I love Wikipedia, it is the wisdom of the crowds, dogs and chimps - knowledge of the collective brains - mixed with good & bad. Are you uneasy admitting you use Wikipedia? I think contrary to popular belief, this online source can be useful if you know how, why, and when to use it. I found out that it is one of the best sites for pop culture, movies, book & TV series, and foreign language study.You'll get one shot list with the questions like '2006 Pulitzer-prize winner novels' It is often the starting point for a research subject - helpful links are found here for further research. Long live Wikipedia!

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom - is one of the most fascinating inspiring story I've read. It is a true story of relationship, love, affection, gratitude and death between a spiritual mentor and his student. The underlying theme is not death but the importance of love, as he rightfully says, " love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone" and also "death ends a life, not a relationship"

Vocera at Main

I'm excited to see vocera server is coming to Main. Hopefully we'll get much better reception and serve our customers better. I was very frustrated that main purpose of vocera was not happening, we are using it like a walkie-talkie and not reaching our patrons with it.
